It's evening, which is the busiest time of the day. The whole family gathers around the dining table to cook a meal and share the delicious food in the copper pot. The children only focus on picking up the shrimps in the pot, and the adults will inevitably nag a few words to eat more vegetables.
You may not believe it, but there are people who were moved by a material dealer’s booth at a design exhibition and were moved by the feeling of home. The booth only creates an atmosphere through a series of paper installations and rock slabs, and shows ordinary days and warm scenes before your eyes, telling a story of "the vitality of home" to the visitors.
This is the exhibition hall where Nobel Slate will participate in the 2020 Guangzhou Design Week - "Extraordinary House".

Nobel’s inspiration for this exhibition comes from the research on the color and texture of the traditional material “paper”, let a static space gather all kinds of interests in life, thus giving the space a unique sense of home. When it comes to the research on traditional color textures, we have to mention the cooperation between Nobel, Shenzhen Chuangxiang Charity Foundation and Rong Design Library. 2020 is the third year that they have appeared in Guangzhou Design Week together.
In 2018, Nobel joined hands with the Innovation Foundation and Rong Design Library to launch a research project on traditional Chinese colors and textures. In the same year, the "Brainstorming Room" they jointly created at the Guangzhou Design Week received wide acclaim from the industry.
In 2019, the three parties conducted more in-depth research on the color and texture of traditional materials. They continued to start from the design itself, focusing on the "paper" in traditional materials, and created "sketch" creations and inspiration records in the design process to create< span style="color:#2980b9">Sketch paper-Sketch Imagination Lab.
In 2020, Research on Traditional Chinese Color Texture "Paper" - "Extraordinary Home" is a study on traditional Chinese color texture Summary and continuation, the research team sorted out the genealogy of traditional Chinese handmade paper, deconstructed and displayed application cases of traditional Chinese color texture research at this Guangzhou Design Week. In addition, they also conducted systematic research and experiments on paper as a material from multiple angles, including its two-dimensional and three-dimensional applications, thus presenting the “extraordinary house” we saw at the beginning.
At the booth, you can see that Nobel's wrinkle series (cloud white, cinnamon), carpet tile series, wood grain tile series, slate series and other products are perfectly integrated into the space and design, becoming the "life of the home" an integral part. Some people may wonder why Nobel can produce such "human touch" products even though it is a manufacturing company. The reason is that while Nobel continues to promote basic research on traditional Chinese materials, he has figured out the relationship between people, space, and materials, and is the first to develop products that are rich in traditional Chinese genes and have contemporary aesthetics.
It can be seen that the research on traditional Chinese colors and textures has greatly inspired the design inspiration of Nobel's production and research and development process.

On December 4, the 2020 Chinese Traditional Color Texture Research Results "Paper" and "Extraordinary House" press conference was held at the Nobel Slate Pavilion of Guangzhou Design Week (No. 1D10) held. Many partners who have been with Nobel, Chuang Fund, and Rong Design Library for many years have provided answers and comments about this exhibition.
Wu Yunsong, product general manager of Nobel Ceramics Group, said that the space of the home is originally static. It is the interaction between people and the space that gives life to the space. That is why we see the fireworks in the kitchen, the harmony in the restaurant, and the atmosphere in the study. Fun, the smell of waking up in the bedroom, the steam in the bathroom, every inconspicuous emotion is combined to build a loving and warm home. In this process,ceramic products need to give people not only beautiful appearance, but also bear the responsibility of protecting all the small emotions of the family. This is also what Nobel Slate expects of.
“We come to Guangzhou Design Week to submit an assignment every year, and this is already the third year.” Zhang Lei, curator of Pinglutagon and founder of From Yuhangrong Design Library, joked. Zhang Lei believes: “The Rong Design Library and Nobel’s joint research on traditional color textures is very meaningful for designers We can see a lot of materials in the Rong Design Library. The origins of the Nobel Harmony Design Library actually start with the founding fund. As one of the directors of the founding fund, Chen Yaoguang, chairman of the design committee of the Zhejiang Building Decoration Industry Association and executive director of the Interior Design Branch of the Architectural Society of China, also came to the press conference. Chen Yaoguang said: "As we all know, building ceramic products are cold and hard. Tong Lan, director of the Chuang Foundation, believes that original design and design research are currently a relatively weak link among Chinese design and manufacturing enterprises. What attitude and spirit does Nobel hope to convey to the outside world through this Guangzhou Design Week? Zhong Shuming, vice president of R&D of Nobel Ceramics Group, accepted an interview with reporters.
Zhong Shuming said: After the period of home isolation due to the epidemic, everyone discovered that ordinary days are precious. So in fact, our theme is very simple, a home full of warmth and life. In a space, whether it is ceramic tiles or soft furnishings, they are not the protagonists. People and life are the protagonists. To create a humanized product, you must understand that ceramic tiles are just a decorative material used by people, and people's feelings are the most important. Whether designers or we, as material manufacturers, need to clarify the logic involved.
Zhong Shuming added that Nobel spent several years working with Rong Design Library to go deep into China.For the study of traditional Chinese colors and textures, the two topics of "cloth" and "paper" are currently studied, and the materials forming a system are shared on the website of the Rong Library, and designers around the world can download and obtain them. It can be used as an important source of nutrition for designers engaged in product creation, space design, and even self-improvement. In fact, ceramic tiles are also the research, structure and design of traditional ceramics, and the final product is just the result of this closed loop. Nobel's participation in the exhibition this time is to properly demonstrate some processes and use a more humorous and relaxed tone for everyone to understand.
